Blissfully Domestic Living

The Magazine & Community all for you!

Rebecca wrote a great article about photo cropping over at BD Photo Bliss.

She feels that you should frame your photo as much as you can when you're taking it, but that cropping afterwards can really improve the viewer's focus.

For example, this:

Can become this:

What do you think about post cropping?

Please include your cropping stories and examples - you can add your photos to your reply or link to them if you prefer. :-)

Cropping is my best friend. I try to frame my photos as best I can when taking them, but in the end, you can create so many more great images by cropping a single photo. Plus, it lets you fix those tiny framing "mistakes."

I LOVE to crop. You can make the dull amazingly artistic with a good crop!

That's an awesome crop! However... I can never see those kinds of things in my photo. Most often I just leave them as taken. :( I need to think outside the box (or inside the frame!)

I'm no pro but I'm all about cropping. When people ask how I manage to capture decent photos of an active 2 year old I always tell them my 2 tips are: take LOTS of photos (I might take 50 to get 4 decent shots) and then crop them well.

I was always afraid of cropping. It took me some time to realize that sometimes you just need one part of the photo to tell your story. Here is of one my cropped pics..
