Blissfully Domestic Living

The Magazine & Community all for you!

A couple of months ago a glorious thing happened. I discovered igoogle for my homepage.

igoogle has lots of little boxes that display evrything I need. My email, my beloved google reader, my own RSS feeds, daily Bible verses, even a cute little notepad to write my things to do list.

Honestly, I have about 20 boxes on there, but the important stuff is at the top.

Um, people.com is at the bottom. A girl's gotta have a bit of gossip right?

How do you stay organized online?

Love, Fuss

I don't. I need serious help.
I just use the Bookmark folders, divided into topics like "Blogs" "Personal" "Homeschool" "Health" etc.

You're doing better than I am by having your bookmarks organized.
I'm feeling like quite the computer idiot for not realizing there are easier ways out there. Someone needs to educate this technology challenged woman.

Thanks for the inspiration ladies. I managed to figure out iGoogle today and get some blogs on the reader. I'm so excited and quite proud of myself (I'm technologically challenged most of the time).

I couldn't live without iGoogle, Outlook and my trusty Blackberry. Every mom needs one! The hubs and I put everything in our Outlook calendar and then with my BB I have all the info I need with me wherever I go.

I'll have to check that out - I feel like I'm drowning in blogs sometimes and I miss some of my favorites because there are so many and I'm always finding new ones.

I'm still pretty plain and behind the times....I subscribe to all my favorite websites with Google Reader so that I know immediately when they're updated, Blingo is my search engine, I have my most used/visited sites bookmarked as favorites, Firefox is a MUST, and I use all sorts of add-ons with FF.

I'm pretty low-tech; I haven't gone to mobile web yet.

I felt so silly when I first discovered Google Reader.

I had been reading blogs for months by typing in the site's URL or heading over from a bookmark. So inefficient!

Google Reader certainly streamlines things, and I'm glad I found it when I did.

I.have.no.idea.

I just run into our home office 2389472938 times a day and jump into the computer and get lost.

Then Braden screams from the closet, and I run away again.

Gee - this sounds exactly like what happens in my house (except usually it's one of the kids coming in to my room crying because they stuck their finger in the lightswitch again)!

This is the first I have heard of iGoogle (then again, I've only been blogging and reading other people's blogs for a few months)....I'm going to check it out

Another fan of igoogle here!

Ok, all this talk about igoogle, how do I check it out, never heard of it? Does this make me totally not organized? Help! lol

igoogle is the personalized google homepage. go to google and there should be some sort of "personalize this page" toggle. Then you just have to make it your homepage.
