Yes, about a million!

I read on your blog about one of your choices in your big decision was to do the thing where people have to click {read more} which most people think is annoying. It sounded like somehow that made $$ for people--that makes no sense to me!

Plus I am a mega dork. I am on blogger and whenever I link i have to manually type in every jot and tiddle in the link--does everyone have to do that? It won't let me cut and paste--HUGE PAIN!

Nester-
My ad network pays by how many people view my site. When people read my feed, almost 500 a day (which I am AMAZED by!) , those are all people who do not actually view my site. Depending on the number of ads I have on, which will soon go up, this is money that I do not earn.

If my feed were partial, people would need to 'click over' to read. This is why so many people only give partial feeds.

Personally, I do not subscribe to anyone who partials. That's why I wanted to leave it up to my readers. I blog for them and if they aren't happy then my whole site falls apart! My readers have said no to partials, so I am going to get new ads to compensate.

love to ya, Fuss

Ah ha! that makes sense to me now! 500 people via feed! WOW! eventually, don't you think most people will read that way?

Fussy I would click on your partials, but I have to admit I am one of your free readers. Your blog comes right to my reader and never go to the actual site unless I want to comment.

See? I read you obsessively, but only click over to comment - I would be MORE apt to click over to read if you went to partial feeds...

Hey, does that mean you don't read me?? ;)

I'm new to blogging. I've been reading ProBlogger's posts and a free ebook by John Chow on the subject. He talks about having your own domain name prior to getting advertising lined up. I'm in the not getting enough sleep phase of the process. I appreciated the additional resources listed in today's post.

I started out with WordPress which my son (a computer programmer) told me was the best. After struggling with it, I looked at Googles Blogspot. It seemed easier to work with so I switched.

WordPress had RSS feed free. It doesn't seem to be with Blogspot. I use an RSS feed to follow blogs, but I don't understand it. The idea of a partial feed is something I've never heard of before.

Can someone enlighten me why I need feedburner? I use google reader and have been able to subscribe to blogspot blogs that don't have feedburner (including my own). What is the benefit of feedburner?

Think the thing about feedburner is that it supports any type of reader. You can click on the little feedburner icon on my blog and pick google reader, or any one of dozens of choices.

Me, I don't use a reader. I'd rather go to the actual blogs...I feel it's like talking to a friend on the phone vs. going to their house.

Can I just add my all time pet peeve for blogs? I hate when I click on a blog a music automatically starts. My volume is often at a weird level and 1/2 the time it wakes my daughter.

I was thinking about that the other day. It never seems to be the music I am in the mood for either...

Does anyone have any tips on how to make the time to actually POST on your own blog? At this point, I've probably lost all of my readers b/c it's been so long since I've posted! Also, I would really like to get back to posting regularly & maybe even make some money with ads- which ad group is the best to use?

Last week I read an interesting blog post about this, but I haven't been able to find it for you. He made a commitment to write from 8 to 10 AM every day for 2 or 3 months. He even kept that commitment during vacation. The result was a huge increase in subscribers. I think the key is to set aside a specific time to write, for those of us who aren't getting around to it regularly enough.

Another idea is to keep a running list of ideas. I've started a file where I drop in scribbled ideas, newspaper clippings, etc. When I don't have enough time to write a complete article, I just START a post. I have several drafts going all the time. I find it easier to get started if I already have something down on "paper." Hope that helps.
