Welcome!

Debt Stinks ! It becomes our master, if we allow it to get out of control.

My hope is that in this spot, we can talk about debt: its impact on our lives... the issues it creates (did all that stuff we bought on credit REALLY make our lives better?)... and what we can do about getting rid of it once and for all!

Let's talk!

I have a giveaway going on over at my blog. Deadline for entry is midnight, Wed., Nov. 26. I'm giving away 1 custom card design (from my etsy shop) to 2 winners!

This is a great way to get your photo Christmas cards free, or on the cheap - I'm giving a discount to purchases that mention the giveaway when they buy!

Hi, I'm new to BD, and I was so happy to find this group. It's nice to know here are other people excited about becoming debt free. My husband and I got motivated by listening to Dave Ramsey. I blog about him and other money issues on Frugal Friday at http://www.thetowells.com.

For me it is not the regular budgeting I have a problem with. Over the past couple of years, we keep getting hit with one crisis right after another. We have tightened the belt almost as much as we can, and have kept floating, but I would love to add some extra breathing room. I do not know how many more hits we can take.

Just now getting involved in the BD groups and thought I could definitely benefit from this one. We were forced to close our business in Aug and are facing its bankruptcy and impending bankruptcy of my husband. I was not on any guarantees for the business, so "MY" stuff is exempt from the company's substantial debt. This is not where we thought we'd be 3 years ago when we started the business. It was great and very successful while the construction market was booming. But the recession swallowed up the business and didn't even belch. There are 30-some staff-members that lost their jobs. We are blessed in that The Mighty Hunter (husband) has experience in insurance adjusting and there will always be a demand for them. He quite easily found a job that pays almost the same he made with our business.

We, thankfully, have very little debt. But what we do have is a burden that we'd love to lose.

I hope to learn a lot from the girls here.

My sister has been doing the program and gave us her CDs to listen to. I am excited and we have already started the listening process!

have had a horrendous few years since my husband died...made some difficult decisions - bailed a family member out of nr bankruptcy, bailed out my business, left with not much!! Have a loan but otherwise having to live on very little, but I think this is good for me, as I have to learn to be more careful - other than the loan I am not in debt and am learning all the time....phew!

I want to be less stressed about my finances and enjoying them more. I am realizing as I get older that there are important things to do with your money other than spend it and I would enjoy having a husband who can retire someday. I want to learn all I can about getting control and at least knowing what I am doing. With three kids, a house and cars and activities my money is always going somewhere. I dont mind the spending of it I want to amke sure I am spending it wisely and finding a way to make sure I have some to spend :)
