Our grocery store, Publix, has store brand organics that are pretty affordable. I've also found it helps to log onto some of the organic brands websites that I like and register my email address. They send me coupons. I can usually find coupons in...

I like to buy my meat, milk, eggs and items such as deodorant and toothpaste, organically.

I try to shop organically, or at least more natural items, as much as possible. I started using toxin-free personal care products (for the whole family) and toxin-free cleaners, and I noticed some health changes, for the better. Especially my son,...

About Me:
The title of ‘Not Just A Dr’s Wife’ is a little untrue, as I’m not married to my Doctor boyfriend yet, but it is in the cards as a future milestone for us to celebrate.

When most people find out that your significant other is a Doctor, they oooh and aaah and expect you to have a very plush life. I want to dispel some sadly misguided rumours. I still work full-time, I still do my own cooking and cleaning, and I still struggle to balance both work and play. Just like every other woman on this planet (well, most of them).

For those of you still wondering WHY I do not have a plush life - remember back to when you graduated universatiy and you had studen loans and debt to pay back? When you had a whole lot of knowledge but no money to show for it? That’s where we are. My Lovely Doctor Boyfriend (now known as LDB) as just recently graduated as a Physician and is waiting to understake his speciality as an Orthopaedic Surgeon.

So, hang around and watch as our lives evolve and hopefully you’ll see there is more than meets the eye when it comes to being a Doctor’s Wife (and one day I will hopefully get that plush life!).

Ignoring The Signs

As I pull out of the drive way at work I am greeted with a mass of road works. On the lead up to them, there are no less than 2 posted signs stating the speed is 40km/hr. There is also a very fancy flashing LED sign that has a radar embedded in it that flashes your speed up and either says “SLOW DOWN” or “Thank You!” depending on your speed.

These road works have been going on for about 3 months now and that road is well travelled by many people. So why do so many ignore the signs and travel fa… Continue

Furniture Shopping, Part 2

To continue on our quest to buy new bedside tables (previous post here), I finally dragged the Doctor Boyfriend down to Ikea (*swoon*) to look for bedside tables.

We got lucky and narrowed our list down to two - the ‘Aneboda’ in white and the ‘Hemnes’, also in white. Duh.

The first one appeared more functional with the shelving and the drawer, and the second one appealed to my desire of the furniture to a… Continue

How To Enoy Your Wii-Kend!

On Thursday I spied a sales ad in some junk mail that the Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit were on sale as a package deal and by the end of Thursday night, the Doctor Boyfriend and I proud owners of our very own Wii. About time I say! The Doctor Boyfriend is still a child at heart and loves the games like Mario Bros, but I was more keen for the Wii Fit since my gym membership was due to expire and I had no plans to renew it.

Come Saturday morning, we’d barely opened our eyes and had breakfast when the… Continue

Hosting A High Tea

I am a fan of any excuse to dress up, become more feminine and spend time with other women. One of my favourite things to do, is to go to, or host, a High Tea.

A High Tea Party is basically a very fancy afternoon tea where ladies get together and chat, gossip, giggle, whatever us ladies do together. Over on my cooking blog, I have a label all about High Tea. Some of the nicer restaurants (usually the hotel ones!) will put on a High Tea service on a weekend afternoon or if you’re not lucky to li… Continue

My Hairdresser? Yeah? I found her!

In a very uncanny turn of events, I found my beloved hairdresser Nikki!

I had taken myself off last night to get my eyebrows tamed again and I wanted to pop into my temporary hairdresser to drop some wigs off that I don’t use anymore (he has a lot of cancer therapy patience) and there, standing at the colour station, was my Nikki. I think I almost cried.
