Blissfully Domestic Living

The Magazine & Community all for you!

We are moving in August. I am decorating challanged. My apartment is very bland. I haven't put much love into this place because I hate it. When we move into our house I want it to be a place the kids want to come home to. Not Florence Henderson like but close.

I have some ideas for my daughters room but that's about it. I want to make our house cozy. Since I don't want to buy brand new furniture I was going to look around the thrift stores for pieces I like. I found a new couch and love seat yesterday for $250! They were in excellent condition. I digress.

Does anyone know of places that give ideas other then Martha Stewart. She's great and all but that's all out of my price range! I want to fix up the house without breaking the bank! Any ideas would be great.

Thanks so much!

I am not sure if I am understanding your question so forgive me if I don't answer it correctly. What kind of ideas do you need? I think thrift stores, garage sales and consignment shops are great places to find things for your new house. If you need ideas for how to use items in your space, blogs are a great resource for decorating on a budget! Look through magazines and tear out pictures of things you love and then try to recreate the look with whatever similar things you can find. If you feel overwhelmed, maybe just start with one room and make it look great, then move on to other rooms. Good luck with your move! Decorating a house takes time, don't feel you need to rush it. Enjoy the process!
