Well, I am a FREAK about health. I actually do the Going Green articles for another website, but may be stopping. I like topics that can relate to everyday, and I like to see things that actually work in the home (KWIM?????????????)
I have been studying Orgone, have you ever herd of it? ;)

No, I'm not familiar with Orgone...what is it?

Give me an idea of what you mean by healthy family topics....

My child is 11 so we are past most of those "up all nighters".....Do you mean actual health or like Mary is talking about - products that you use that won't make you sick?

Darla...I'm the Healthy Family Editor, and I'm covering health issues. Yeah, I guess that is pretty broad! I am concentrating on health health and nutrition, though.

Yes, my coughing congested baby got 1/2 a teaspoon of baby cold medicine tonight. Am I going to Mommy Hell for that one?

Reply to This

Only if you added 1/2 a bottle of whisky with it. ;-)

I'm with Darla...we all know sleep is what makes people heal and congested babies DON'T sleep. The very fact that you thought about it enough to feel guilty about it makes me think you aren't od'ing baby on it.

Thanks our family doc said it was ok, but then our pediatrician freaked out about the medicine.

There was a bunch in the news about giving decongestants to babies/children. It's been recommended that certain meds no longer be used for them.

I'll have to do some research and write about this one!

Thanks we were desperate. My 16 month old sounds like he is drowning when he lays down and it makes sleeping impossible. He has been sick off and on all month. We have been to the doctor twice, but they say it is a cold and he must suffer.

Sounds like the ped needs to chill. yeah, there are some meds that have been pulled and studies are going on, but baby boy and momma need sleep! So baby gets 1/2 tsp med, momma gets 1/2 bottle of whiskey and everyone is happy!

Have you tried running a cool mist vaporizer and raising the head of his bed at night? It might help.

I'd be interested in alternative treatments for seasonal allergies. My almost 13 year old and 7 year old sons suffer terribly in the spring and fall. I hate giving meds and they hate taking them because they feel foggy on them. We've had some success with Sisu's Allermin but I'm always open to new ideas from the non-med realm.
