So far the info I found is to purhase a 300$ software package.

If interested I can post the info here.

eek! that's kind of steep. go ahead and post--I'm open to it. I know of sites like www.istockphoto.com and www.fotolia.com where you can submit photos and they watermark it there. That might be an option to consider, but at the same time, I'd like to watermark some of the stuff I post around the web in general. Hmm...so, yes, go ahead and share, please. :) Thanks!!

Went to those & I'm not a member. Couldn't find anything specific on watermarks.

I think if you are a member and sign up as a contributor (meaning you would be adding your own work to the site for sale), those sites will automatically watermark your submissions. ;)

" The program I use is called Photo Impact Pro. It's about $300 at compusa.

There is a free photo editing version photoshop online called Photoshop Express Beta. "

Wonder if digital cameras can be programmed with a watermark ?

I wonder that, too. hmm...I have Photoshop, but I'm not sure if it will do watermarks. I will explore the free version online and check it out. I will also look into the Photo Impact Pro. Thanks again for the ideas and info! :)

I have PS Elements and it has a watermark feature. You want your picture to look like someone painted it in watercolors... yes? You can mess with how dramatic the effect is and everything.

Boy, I wouldn't think that you'd want your original data from the camera to have the watermark on it. What if you had a nice portrait that you wanted to print for your family?

Also googled a tutorial, but couldn't make it work.

I use Paint Shop Pro and I'm 95% sure you can do watermarks in there. I would think any high-end photo editing program would be able to do it. You can even do it yourself, without a "watermark" function, just create a new layer in any program, write your text that you want to use and make it semi-transparent (maybe 20%?). Then do SAVE AS (so you don't wreck your original).

I've been using PSP for y-e-a-r-s. It's Windows-based. (and only $80) http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Product/1184951547051

In fact, when I switched to a Mac a year ago, that one reason I wanted a parallel boot for Windows was that I couldn't find a Mac-based INEXPENSIVE photo program that I liked as well as PSP!
