Blissfully Domestic Living

The Magazine & Community all for you!

My few meager suggestions over at BD didn't even scratch the surface on the many ways we can use ribbon in our homes. What ideas do you have?

I love pulling out my pink or blue ribbon when hosting a baby shower and using all of it to trail down from my chandelier to the table underneath where the food is. It makes such a great impact and costs next to nothing since I already have way to much ribbon!

I love Alexandra Stoddard's books because she also shares a love of ribbon. As in, loves it SO much, when you go to a book signing, she sticks a short length of colorful grosgrain in your book as a keepsake! Also, her ribbon closet (formerly a wetbar) featured in last year's Country Living is just to die for!

I like to use most of my ribbon the old-fashioned way: on gifts.

People really seem to think you've done something special if you've used real ribbon. I don't know why, because the rolls I find at yard sales are way cheaper than purchased plastic bows.

It's funny how many people will fold up the length after opening the gift and then give it right back to me.

I still have that issue of Country Living. It was my first introduction to Alexandra Stoddard and I loved that ribbon closet. I think I loved her linen closet too! I'd love to have spaces like that in my home!

Can you scan the picture for us? I'd love to see them both.

I remembered reading the magazine, but couldn't find it here at home. I did find this link though. How to get the look

I sure can. I think I even know where to look for it! I'll try to get it scanned tomorrow.

Hi Darla. I wanted you to know I hadn't forgotten about this. I haven't found the magazine yet. I think actually that most of the pictures from the magazine article (that I can remember) are shown in Nicki's link. But I'll keep looking. It's got to be somewhere!

Oh I see the link now - DUH! I didn't realize that was a link in Nicki's comment. Thanks for the heads-up.
