Tap or bottled water?

My last articles at BD were about how, in an effort to save money, my family has switched from bottled water to plain old tap water. After a bit of research, I've let go of my guilt/fears and embraced the tap. I feel good about all of the plastic bottles I'm NOT contributing to the recycling plant.

How about you? Do you drink bottled water exclusively? Do you have a filtration system for your tap? Or are you old school like us and just drink plain tap water?

We have a filtration system in our fridge. (we don't have a side-by-side, we have the kind that has only the water in the front).

We've got a filter on our fridge for ice and water. We only drink the water out of the filtered system. We do buy a case of bottle water about once every couple of months maybe? We generally just refill those bottles for a couple of days and then throw them away when they get funky. I find I drink a lot more water if it's in a bottle, not a glass. I don't know why. I think maybe because I can close it up and carry it around with me with no fear of spilling it.

We have a filter on our fridge that tells us when it needs to be replaced. So we use that water to drink and make ice. The manufacturer said that it would have to be replaced every three months but we have used it for over a year and have as of yet had to replace it! So it is paying for itself over and over and over. (And ours is a french door fridge with the freezer drawer on the bottom.)

My answer is the same as Karen's. (We have a filter on our frig and supplement with bottled water for on the go.)

Jungle is willing to drink tap water, but I just can't seem to do it.

Because I also like a non-glass container to carry around, I bought a poly-carbonate bottle to use. It has a wider mouth (making it easy to clean) and a flip top.

I had been buying bottled water, but I think I'm going to switch to the tap. The reason being my doctor's orders to drink a gallon of water each day. I've recently been enlightened that a gallon is 128 oz and not 64 oz (thanks, Darla, for pointing that out! lol). That's a lot of bottled water! My new plan is to get a water bottle that holds a gallon and just carry that with me to work each day. I'll fill it from the tap.

Our refrigerator has a filter and we use that for drinking water, but cooking comes from the tap. We broke the bottled water habit last spring and we've been doing really well.
