Tide? Gain? Generic? Fabric softener or dryer sheets? Why?

I'm running low in the laundry supply department, looking for something with a bit more "fresh laundry scent" & wondering what everyone uses to get out tough stains & smell nice???

OOooh, I love the smell of Method products. I tried using their dryer sheets but wondered if the reusable ones were such a bargain. Do you think so?

Honestly, I love mopping my floors with Method Good for Wood. So yummy.

I use some by Mugwart Maggie that is handmade. I found it on etsy and my boys love that their clothes come out smelling like "green grass".

Used All Free and Clear for years when the kiddos were smaller but was never happy with the level of clean. The previous owners of my house kept their cat in the laundry room and I just can't get that smell out of the floor/walls so I switched to Tide Original Scent to help cover the stink! I use liquid or powder at half the recommended amount--it's actually cheaper this way (I stock up when on sale) than the All and cleans better. We have hard water and as noted above I have a sensitive nose so I add about a half cup of Borax to every load to soften the water and deodorize towels and clothing. For stains I use Biz--tried Oxiclean once and it bleached/faded lots of items before I noticed! Trying to get through the million Kirkland (Costco) dryer sheets before switching back to Downy--the Kirkland works OK for static and softness but just doesn't smell "April Fresh!"

I also use Arm and Hammer Essentials in the Mountain Rain Scent. It comes in a small green bottle and is CHEAP!! The cost is less than $3.00 at Wal-mart. It is a concentrated formula which I personally like. The reason I started purhcasing this product, besides the price, is because it is made from plant-based soaps meaning it is all natural. It doesn't contain phosphates or petroleum. It is also safe for septic systems. The list could go on and on for why I love this product. You should definitely give this product a try.

Apparently I'm as vain with my laundry products as I am everything else. I knew it was concentrated and plant based but never gave that much thought...I just love the way it smells! :)

Now I feel even better about using it!

I guess I am in the minority. I try to find things without scents that are cheap. I always find the scents in the laundry stuff too overpowering. Then again, I can't wear perfume, my DH can't wear cologne around me, and there are few cleaning products that don't make me ill.

I usually buy Sears huge bucket of powdered laundry detergent (I had never heard that powdered detergents were bad for your washer and septic - will have to do more research! Thanks!), whatever scent free dryer sheets I can find on sale (Plus dryer balls) and use Spray and Wash stain stick and Oxy Clean for stains.

I love, love, love Arm & Hammer liquid, concentrate with oxy cleaners in it. It smells SO good and it is cheap. 1 bottle lasts a month in our home (2 adults, 2 child). I have a retarded dryer that no matter what creates static, so I use static gaurd spray if needed and 2 dryer sheets. I buy Snuggle or Sowny only because it's a $1 more, but it smells better and I buy the huge box, so I only need to buy dryer sheets every couple of months.

I use Method dye & scent free. I can't use the other stuff, it makes me sick, so I'm not much help if you want laundry soap with smells thought I do believe Method does have some, not sure though because since I can't use it I don't look lol. I do love my Method, far better than All Small & Might which is what I was using. I put some baking soda and borax in mine and use even less so it lasts me a long time. But even without that I find you don't have to use the whole amount of soap they say unless it's a really dirty load.

i use non-toxic charlie's soap - http://www.charliesoap.com/ . it has no scent and works great even on cloth diapers. :)
don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets as i try to keep it as natural as possible, though i'm considering trying method dryer sheets after reading this thread. :)

just wanted to add that i DO have to pretreat stains.

Method dryer sheets are awesome but Shaklee works even better. (I don't sale shaklee so nothing to gain by saying that haha)

Also for fabric softener I use baking soda or vinegar. :)
