36 Weeks To A Better Home

Hi ladies! I am new to the group and would love to get to know some of you better. My husband and I have just started a new method to help clean, declutter and organize our home. We're joyfully calling it "36 Weeks To A Better Home," but the basic idea is to tackle one major project each week. I actually got the idea from a friend, but I think it's going to work well for us.

Now that the weather is nice, our first project is to clean up the outside. It's a great opportunity to soak up some sun. :) I just hope the weather holds out!

We're always looking for creative and cheap ways to organize and would love any ideas you have.

Next week's project is the baby's room. The biggest hurdles there are all of the baby stuff we've accumulated in the first year of his life, organizing his toys and toddler-proofing his room. We're a little tight on space, so I'd love any ideas.

Great idea! This is right up my alley. I'll wash the outside toys and sweep off the patio tomorrow then hit it hard on Saturday with some mowing, pruning and weeding. Thanks for the inspiration!
Our nursery is very small. It fits the crib, changing table, rocking chair, and an armoire with just enough room to move between each. The changing table holds what you'd expect: diapers and blankets. The armoire doesn't take up any more room than a dresser would but it's tall so we gained extra storage space by going vertical. In the armoire I use several different size baskets to containerize clothes, accessories, and stuffed animals. This is also the storage for backup diapers and wipes--fills the whole bottom section after a Costco run! The closet is small and half is taken up by part of my husband's vast tshirt collection. In the baby's half I hung a removable double rod. Her toys are stored on the floor of the closet in three wheeled bins we got at IKEA for $5 each. With the closet door open she can play with everything, or I can just pull out one bin and close the doors to keep the mess to a minimum.
