Everything to Make Family Life Easier

SAHMmy Says

What's On Your Desk?

Today's post is on saving money with an organized office. What's on your desk?
I have a huge built in L-shaped desk in the office. I try to keep it as spare as possible--one stray stack of paper acts as a magnet for every bill, Post It, and receipt. Typically, it's just the monitor, printer, speakers, and my son's Darth Vader "computer." I don't even keep an In box, because everything wants to go in!
Lately, the desk has been loaded with odds and ends from the office painting project that stalled out Memorial Day weekend: drill, paint can, blinds, air registers, light switches, nonskid rug pad...
Hubby gets home at noon today--maybe we should think about wrapping this up :)

My desk has the computer and those accesories (routers, printer, etc). Then I have two digital cameras and the deck for that, items I am selling on Ebay, books, papers to go through. A digitial picture frame that needs to be set up, my pile of geneology research for both families (hubby's and mine). My drawers are full of cables, papers, and other stuff. Yup a real mess.

I try to keep my desk clean and clear, but somehow it ends up being a magnet for action figures that my son sets down, all of my girls' projects when they come to use my computer, stuff my husband cleans up in the rest of the house and doesn't know what to do with. I just posted a comment about what is on my kitchen counters---well, everything that ends up on the kitchen counter gets moved by my husband to my desk. I can't win. I need a room with a lock and key.

Here is my current desk setup - desk, bill organizer, lamp, phone, mini file boxes, and gargoyle knicknacks:

Also recently added is this fellow:

Monkey clock

Now...just imagine that + 1 drinking cup, 1 room-temperature, unopened can of SlimFast, asthma inhaler, numerous business cards, a stack of books, tape measure, allergy relief medication, 1 can of hair spray, 1 bottle of nail polish, and a tape measure piled on top.
